Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung received Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam Elsbeth Akkerman on January 25, during which they discussed measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in handling urban waste and turning it into a source of energy.

The Dutch diplomat thanked Hanoi authorities for their timely and much-needed coordination with the Dutch embassy over the past.

She said that the Dutch Development Bank FMO had agreed to fund a project on turning waste into energy in Vietnam and hoped that Hanoi would grant it an investment licence.

For his part, Chung voiced his wishes that Hanoi and the Netherlands will continue expanding collaboration in fields that the latter holds strength in, such as renewable energy, smart city building, trade, and food processing.

He also affirmed his backing for the project on turning waste into energy, adding that it will be carried out once the Dutch group can prove its investment capital. –VNA
