Hanoi authorities will organise numerous vibrant and appealing culture activities to attract visitors to the capital city during the 2024 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Hanoi (VNA) - Hanoi authorities will organise numerousvibrant and appealing culture activities to attract visitors to the capitalcity during the 2024 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

This is also part of efforts to preserve and promote traditionalcultural values, and utilise culture as a motivation for economic development, especiallyin the tourism industry.

Many activities and eventswill be held over an extended duration, offering opportunities for tourists to experience thetraditional Tet atmosphere in the Hong (Red) River Delta region, including a paintingexhibition at the Temple of Literature - the first university in Vietnam. Tet celebration and art performance programmesin the Old Quarter, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and Duong Lam AncientVillage, and the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Cultureand Tourism will round out the activities.

Notably, adrone light show expected to set a Southeast Asian record is scheduled to takeplace by the side of Ho Tay (West Lake) in Hanoi on the eve of the Year of theDragon on February 9. The event is set to feature the largest number of drones for such a performance in SoutheastAsia, to be accompanied with exclusively composedmusic and screens for live broadcasting installed around West Lake, promisinga spectacular show for locals and visitors on the threshold ofthe Year of the Dragon.

Localities in the capital have also prepared for organising key festivals,including Huong Pagoda festival in My Duc district, Soc Temple in Soc Son district, Co Loa festival in Dong Anhdistrict, Dong Da festival in Dong Da district, Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) festivalin Me Linh district, and TanVien Son Thanh (Tan Vien Mountain Saint) festival in Ba Vi district.

In the firstlunar month, the municipal Department of Tourism will collaborate with relevantunits to hold tourism promotion activities, towards stipulating tourism demand in2024.

To better servevisitors, the municipal Department of Tourism has required tourism units,businesses and organisations specialising in tourism in Hanoi to review and improvethe quality of tourism products and services and develop products meeting tourist demand./.

In 2025, Con Dao welcomed more than 612,000 visitors, including around 25,600 international arrivals. The arrival of Le Jacques Cartier early in the year is expected to provide fresh momentum for the island’s tourism growth in 2026.

Tan Son Nhat airport expected to handle over 1,000 flights per day during Tet peak

Notably, during the two peak days ahead of Tet, the 26th and 27th days of the last lunar month, which fall on February 13 and 14, the airport is projected to operate up to 1,017 flights per day. Post-Tet peaks are expected on the 6th and 7th days of the first lunar month (February 22 and 23), with approximately 1,025 flights handled daily.
