The 4th ASEM Labour and Employment Ministers’ Conference will take place in Hanoi from October 24-26. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will attend and address the event.
Under the theme “Social protection and employment – a key to inclusive growth”, the conference is expected to attract the participation of between 150 and 200 international and domestic delegates.
The delegates are to exchange experiences drawn from labour, employment and social welfare issues at a time when efforts are made globally to deal with financial and economic crisis consequences, as well as share opinions on the labour market situation of ASEM member countries in the future.
They will focus on employment policies for the youth and vulnerable groups, together with three main challenges to sustainable employment, including social welfare, social responsibilities of businesses, and health and safety at workplace.
A joint communiqué will be approved by the ministers at this event and submitted to the 9 th ASEM Summit to be held in Laos ’ capital of Vientiane in early November.
Oganised biennially since 2006, the ASEM Labour and Employment Ministers’ Conference provides a forum for ASEM partners to discuss, strengthen relationship, and find solutions to global labour, employment and social issues.
On the sidelines of the conference, Vietnam will host the ASEM Social Partners’ Forum.-VNA
