Hanoi’s domestic tourism stimulation programme receives warm response

More than 100 companies have registered to join a domestic tourism stimulation programme launched by the capital city of Hanoi, the municipal Tourism Department said on November 19.

Hanoi (VNA) – More than 100 companies have registered to join a domestictourism stimulation programme launched by the capital city of Hanoi, themunicipal Tourism Department said on November 19.

Thecompanies included 85 travel companies and transport enterprises, 21 hotels andshopping centres, and 10 tourism destinations. They offer 346 tours in total.It is noteworthy that Hanoi’s People’s Committee has signed cooperation dealswith three airlines – Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways.

Manytourism products under the demand stimulation programme have been designed to tapinto the local cultural heritage and revolutionary relics, such as a night tourof Hoa Lo prison, where revolutionaries used to be imprisoned during thecolonial era, night tours of the ancient Thang Long citadel, or thosehighlighting the 36 streets for 36 trades in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, the capitalcity’s traditional trade villages and ancient villages. Many other tours arelinked with other cities and provinces in the northern region.

Localtourism attractions have worked to improve their services with new activities.The popular pedestrian space around Hoan Kiem Lake at weekends hosts multipleevents from art performances to sport games. The Ba Vi National Park offers hotair balloon service, while the Hanoi Museum of Ethnology creates tours to givevisitors an experience of autumn in Hanoi.

Meanwhile,hotels and shopping centres offer discounts of between 10 and 30 percent.

Hanoiwill step up the programme while restructuring its tourism products and marketstowards the goal of a 45 percent increase year-on-year in domestic visitors over2020 more than 11 million.

Thecapital welcomed 7.27 million visitors in the January-October period, down 68.9percent from the same period last year, mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic,according to the Department of Tourism.

In2019, around 29 million visitors came to Hanoi, including more than 7 millionforeigners./.
