HCM City (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the HoChi Minh City People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc hosted a reception for visiting Ministerof State in the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Anne-MarieTrevelyan on October 25.

Duc said the Vietnam-UK relationship is developingfruitfully, and that between HCM City and the UK has also made progress invarious spheres.

Briefing the guest on HCM City’s development vision, theofficial said the city needs both domestic and foreign resources, adding the southernmetropolis wants to learn from the UK’s experience in international financialcentre building.

He thanked British partners for their collaboration instudying a roadmap to build an innovation centre in health care, and called onthe UK to continue its support in high-quality personnel training and sharetechnologies in disease treatment and management models in the medical sector, grantmore scholarships to Vietnamese students in high-tech and finance, and help thecity with English language teaching.

Trevelyan spoke highly of HCM City’s vision in health care,finance and renewable energy, and expressed her interest in its international financialcentre project, stressing that the UK is willing to share its experience inthis field.

Besides, the UK is very interested in and ready topromote cooperation in renewable energy, and support HCM City in urban floodprevention, she said./.
