More than 120 overseas Vietnamese and their relatives from 11 countries and territories around the world gathered in HCM City on August 30 to mark the 65 th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day (Sept. 2).
The Head of HCM City’s Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Phan Tham, reviewed the milestones that enabled the inauguration of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945.
He used the occasion to highlight the valuable contributions and active responses of overseas Vietnamese, an inseparable part of the Vietnamese community, to HCM City in particular and the nation as a whole.
On the occasion, the municipal People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to the City’s Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and four overseas Vietnamese in recognition of their contributions to the city’s patriotic movements over the past five years./.
