Vice Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee Le Manh Ha said this is not the first time the People’sCommittee has asked for the installation of positioning devices onradioactive equipment.
On September 15, 2014, theApave Asia-Pacific Company – Ho Chi Minh City branch lost itsradioactive device. The lost device was found after a four-day search.
Following the incident, units that usedradioactive-contained equipment in work were requested to attach apositioning device to the equipment but have not yet done, Ha revealed.
Deputy Director of the Department of Science andTechnology Nguyen Khac Nam said that Ho Chi Minh City now has more than200 devices containing radioactive source, 124 of which are mobile.-VNA
