
HCM City (VNA) - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen on February 8 led a delegationto lay wreaths and offer incense at the HCM City Martyrs' Cemeteries at Khong Ten and Lac Canh hills.
This is a traditional activity of the municipal PartyCommittee, authorities and people on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet)festival.
Delegates spent a minute of silence, expressing their deep gratitude to heroes and martyrs who laid down their lives for the national independence and reunification.
Immediately after the visits, the delegation offered incense and Banh Tet (round glutinous rice cake) in tribute to Hung Kings - the legendary founders of Vietnam, and Nguyen Huu Canh, who founded theSaigon – Gia Dinh region (present HCM City) in 1698, at the Hung Kings Memorial Park in Thu Duc city.
The delegation also laid wreaths intribute to President Ho Chi Minh, President Ton Duc Thang at the Ho Chi Minh Museumin HCM City.
On the sameday, a delegation of the municipal People’s Council, People’s Committee and theFatherland Front Committee of HCM City burntincense to commemorate martyrs atBen Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple in Cu Chi district./.
