HCM City looks for more support from Japan

Ho Chi Minh City hopes to receive more support from Japan to implement flood prevention projects and construct rainwater drainage systems, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dinh La Thang told Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Tourism Keiichi Ishii.

Tokyo (VNA) –Ho Chi Minh City hopes to receive more support from Japan to implement floodprevention projects and construct rainwater drainage systems, Secretary of the municipalParty Committee Dinh La Thang told Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructureand Tourism Keiichi Ishii.

In a meeting with the Japanese official in Tokyo on April 7, Thang, who is on avisit to Japan, appreciated the Japanese Government’s assistance for projects toimprove the water environment in HCM City.

He said HCM City is suffering from severe impacts of climate change, addingthat many areas in the city are flooded whenever there is rain or tide.  

According toThang, HCM City is home to over 1,000 projects invested by Japanese enterpriseswith a total investment of over 355 billion USD.

For his part, Keiichi Ishii stressed that his country wants to continuecooperating with HCM City in projects to upgrade and develop infrastructure,including those on water supply and drainage.

The same day, the Vietnamese official paid a courtesy visit to Japanese ForeignMinister Kishida Fumio, who expressed his belief that HCM City will continue tobe an attractive destination for Japanese investors in the time ahead.

Thang affirmed that HCM City attaches special importance to relations withJapan, hoping that Japanese firms will increase investment in the city.-VNA

Hanoi puts 28 more electric buses into operation

The new VinFast Green Bus vehicles, manufactured in 2026, have a capacity of 60 passengers. They are equipped with low floors for easier boarding, facilities for people with disabilities, air conditioning and other modern amenities to improve passengers’ comfort and travel experience.

500-day campaign brings fallen soldiers closer to home

Information provided by local residents in Son La province helped authorities find the remains of two fallen soldiers after four days of searching. At Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City, 701 sets of remains and 304 sets of personal items have been recovered, while in Ca Mau province, more than 3,000 unidentified graves have been excavated and biological samples collected.

Vietnam, Japan promote exchanges on law and justice

Speaking at the working session, Chief Judge of the People’s Court of Hanoi - Region 2 Hoang Ngoc Thanh said the meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to share practical experience in judicial activities, thereby enhancing mutual understanding of the laws and practices governing the settlement of IP-related cases in Vietnam and Japan.
