The HCM City People’s Committee has approved construction of an inland container depot (ICD) in suburban District 9.

HCMCity (VNA) - The HCM City People’s Committee has approvedconstruction of an inland container depot (ICD) in suburban District 9.

Tobe built in public-private partnership mode, the 60ha ICD will cost around 5.8trillion VND (260 million USD) and be finished by 2019.

Itwill serve the relocation of enterprises operating in the Truong Tho Port areain Thu Duc district, which will mitigate traffic congestion and environmentalpollution in the area.

ThePeople’s Committee has identified Duc Khai Corporation, Tan Hoang Real EstateJoint Stock Company and Tam Binh Real Estate Joint Stock Company as the privatesector partners.

Thesite is on Nguyen Xien street, Long Binh ward, which is only around 10m wide.

Fearingtraffic jams there when the ICD opens, the People’s Committee has instructedthe departments of Transport and Planning and Architecture and the District 9administration to widen the street.-VNA
