Seven students died after being swept away by big waves at a local beach in Ho Chi Minh City’s Can Gio district on December 29.
All the bodies of the students had been found by 6:40 am on December 30 after a 20-hour search involving more than 120 staff of search and rescue forces of HCM City and neighbouring Binh Duong province.
The victims are students of Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary School in Binh Duong’s Dau Tieng district.
The accident occurred at mid-day on December 29 when the students, together with their schoolmates and 19 teachers, went on a school trip to Can Gio district.
Their bodies are now place at Can Gio hospital and will soon be brought to their hometown.
According to Le Van Thom, Vice Chairman of the Can Gio People’s Committee, the district has provided 5 million VND (235 USD) as emergency aid to each family of the victims.-VNA
