(Source: VNA) HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City calls onJapanese businesses to step up investments in industry, agriculture and tourismin the southern metropolis, said Vice Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee Huynh Cach Mang.
He made the appeal at a reception for formerJapanese Ambassador to Vietnam Fukuda Hiroshi and leaders of Sanyo Group in thecity on May 23.
In the context of the fourth industrial revolution,the city has prioritised cutting-edge technologies in mechanics,electricity-electrics, chemicals-plastics and food processing, he said.
In the field of agriculture, the locality hasfocused on high-tech agriculture and scientific and technological application inproduction and farm produce quality improvement.
Of note, tourism is one of the promising sectors ofHCM City, he said, adding that in 2017, the city welcomed more than 6 millionforeign visitors, including some 400,000 from Japan.
HCM City wishes that Japanese enterprises will makelong-term investment in the locality on the basis of mutual trust , he said,pledging efforts to improve the local business for foreign firms’ effective operation.
For his part, Fukuda Hiroshi said Japanesebusinesses have seen Vietnam, especially HCM City, as an attractive investmentdestination.
Many of them have planned to study and seekinvestment opportunities in manufacturing, food processing and tourism in thecity, according to the former ambassador.
Japanese investors want to share experience andtechnologies with Vietnam to help the country improve production quality andgenerate more jobs for local labourers, he said.-VNA
