Lao Cai (VNA) - Heavy showers accompanied by hail suddenly poured down in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai at around 6:30pm on April 24.
According to local authorities, hail was recorded in some areas of Van Ban district.
Particularly, in the communes of Khanh Yen Trung and Khanh Yen Thuong, and Van Ban township, there were two hailstorms lasting from 6:30pm to 6:35pm and from 6:38pm to 6:48pm, with dense intensity.
The hailstones measured 2-3cm, some as large as hen's eggs.
Damages are not yet reported but initial reports indicate some areas of trees, flowers and residential houses were affected.
Currently, the weather in some areas of the province still shows signs of continuing complex developments.
Authorities advise residents to actively take precautions against extreme weather conditions.
Several localities in other northern mountainous provinces, such as Hang Kia and Pa Co communes in Mai Chau district (Hoa Binh), and Long Luong commune in Van Ho district (Son La) reported heavy showers along with hails on April 24 afternoon.
