Heritage exhibition revitalizes traditional Vietnamese folk art

The Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board, in collaboration with the artists of Latoa Indochine, organised an exhibition that captivates visitors with its innovative folk art pieces, creatively utilizing traditional lacquer materials.

The exhibition, titled "Heritage Flow," showcases over 60 paintings inspired by popular folk themes like 'Herd of Pigs,' 'Sacred Rooster,' 'Jealousy,' 'Five Tigers,' and 'The Mouse's Wedding.'

These traditional motifs are reimagined through a creative blend of lacquer painting and woodcut techniques, offering a fresh take on Vietnam's cultural heritage.

In addition, Latoa Indochine presents a series of lacquer paintings exploring themes such as lotuses, lantern dances, landscapes, and various characters.

The exhibition represents a significant effort to elevate and preserve Vietnam's folk painting traditions.

The exhibition taking place at a French villa built in the early 20th century in Hanoi suggests a harmonious blend of architectural heritage with artistic expression.

Throughout the exhibition, Latoa Indochine’s artists will host lacquer workshops to deepen public understanding of Vietnam’s traditional lacquer techniques and provide hands-on experience in creating these art works.

The exhibition is open to the public for free until September 3 at 49 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hanoi./.
