Highway 1 to receive 141m USD

The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) will provide nearly 3 trillion VND (141 million USD) in loans to expand a 70-km section of the north-south National Highway 1.
The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) will providenearly 3 trillion VND (141 million USD) in loans to expand a 70-kmsection of the north-south National Highway 1.

The loanwill help upgrade the 29-km section of the highway that runs through thecentral province of Binh Dinh and another 40-km section connectingBinh Dinh Province 's Tuy Phuoc district to central Phu Yenprovince's Song Cau district.

For the 29-km expansion, theBIDV committed to supply nearly 1.4 trillion VND (65 million USD) to theBinh Dinh BOT Joint Stock Company. The project will start from theprovince's Hoai Nhon district in the 2014-16 period. The loan term willbe 19 years and three months.

The 40-km project, worth 2trillion VND (94 million USD), would be implemented from now until 2015with a loan term of 14 years and six months.

This is partof a 30 trillion VND (1.4 billion USD) credit package the bank signedearly last year with the Ministry of Transport to fund theBuild-Operate-Transfer project to enlarge the highway.

NationalHighway 1A, which is of significant importance for the country'ssocio-economic development and national defence, has seriouslydeteriorated in recent years, leading to congestion and accidents.-VNA

HCM City tackles fishing violations at roots

As of December 9, all of the 4,475 fishing vessels in HCM City had registered and updated in the VNFishbase database, of them 4,268 licensed. The remainder, classified as ineligible, are strictly monitored and kept moored locally, with no permission to put to sea.

Vietnam, IAEA comprehensively assess national nuclear power infrastructure
