Historical records on Hoi An on display

Nearly 80 documents recording the history of the Hoi An ancient town, a UNESCO-recognised world heritage site in the central province of Quang Nam, are being showcased at an exhibition.

Quang Nam (VNA) – Nearly 80 documents recordingthe history of the Hoi An ancient town, a UNESCO-recognised world heritage sitein the central province of Quang Nam, are being showcased at an exhibition thatopened in the town’s museum on June 6.

The documents, reproduced from Nguyen Dynasty’s woodblocksand Chau ban (official administrative papers), show the formation anddevelopment milestones of the land since 1471 when the name of Quang Nam wasused for the first time under the reign of King Le Thanh Tong.

Nguyen Van Son, Vice Chairman of the People’sCommittee of the Hoi An town said, the exhibition forms part of the activitiesin the framework of the 2017 Quang Nam Heritage Festival.

Besides introducing Hoi An’s history, the event alsoaims to help the public and researchers have an insight of the NguyenDynasty’s woodblocks and Chau ban.

Woodblocks of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945) wererecognised by the UNESCO as part of the World Documentary Heritage in July,2009 and Chau ban were included in the World Documentary Heritage in theAsia-Pacific region in May, 2014.

The exhibition runs until June 14 at the Hoi AnMuseum.-VNA

Moscow to host Vietnam Culture Festival for first time

Festival-goers will be treated to performances of Vietnamese water puppetry, enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine, and take part in creative cooking workshops. There will be a special art programme which features performances by artists from both countries, showcasing the sounds of traditional Vietnamese instruments.

Photo exhibition highlights Vietnam–Israel cultural ties
