With a huge potential to develop solar power on more than 100 million square meters of roof, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to lead the “Million Green Homes” project initiated by the Vietnam Sustainable Energy Alliance.

The project aims to have a million houses nationwide to use solar power by 2030. All the houses will be equipped with solar batteries, rainwater collection system, and waste treatment system, among others while generating 3,000MW of solar power for the national grid.

According to a World Bank’s survey, with a large population, HCM city has a great potential to develop solar power. The project will focus on high electricity consumption units such as supermarkets, hotels, schools, and hospitals.
