Paris (VNA) – A commemoration of Ho Chi Minh’s 128th birth anniversary took place at the memorial site dedicated to the late Vietnamese President in Montreau Park in the French city of Montreuil.
Speaking at the ceremony, Florian Vigneron, deputy mayor of Montreuil, recalled the time Ho Chi Minh lived and worked for the cause of liberation of oppressed nations in France.
He said his city is proud of having made contributions to the bilateral ties between the two nations during Vietnam’s struggle for independence and national construction.
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Thiep said visiting the Ho Chi Minh space in Montreau Park on his birth anniversary has become an annual tradition of staff at the embassy, Vietnamese expatriates in France, and French friends of Vietnam.
He stated the Ho Chi Minh memorial site in Montreau Park is evidence of the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and France.
Earlier, representatives of the embassy and the association of Vietnamese in France visited and laid flowers at No 9, Compoint alley, District 17, Paris, where Ho Chi Minh lived from 1921-1923.
On the occasion, an exhibition of French archive materials on Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese patriotic revolutionaries, is running at the headquarters of the Vietnamese association in France from May 17-25.-VNA
