An international seminar on “educational technology and occupational environment in Vietnam” was held in the former imperial city of Hue on March 18 under the auspices of Hue University and France's Toulouse University.

The event drew representatives from universities in France, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam and a number of international organisations.

The 21 reports presented at the seminar focused on the current state of the educational technology and occupational environment in Vietnam and other countries in the region, as well as on training technology in developed countries, engineers in charge of human resources management, and the latest techniques in educational technology and distance training.

Educational technology plays a crucial role in helping Vietnam integrate into the global economy, said the reports.

During the seminar, participants pointed out weaknesses in Vietnam’s educational technology, saying that tertiary education has not matched with employers’ demands and vocational training has failed to meet rural labour demands.

“Vocational training need to be renovated to match with the society’s practical requirements,” stressed Associate Professor Dr Ha Van Hoi from the Hanoi National University./.
