IBM Vietnam, a subsidiary of the US-based IBM Corporation, on May 12 started a programme providing consultancy and management support to the Department of Health and the Department of Science and Technology in southern Dong Nai province.

From May 12 to June 7, the firm will send 11 employees from eight countries to Dong Nai to carry out the programme, which costs 250,000 USD, IBM Vietnam said.

IBM staff will help the health agency improve the capacity of medical personnel in managing and promoting community health programmes and national disease prevention programmes through the use of information technology.

At the same time, the Department of Science and Technology will receive better data security systems at its centres for developing high-tech equipment. Local staff will also be taught intensive data protecting skills.

Since 2008, the corporation has conducted 10 programmes providing professional support to Quang Ninh province, and Da Nang, Can Tho and Hai Phong cities, among others.-VNA
