Imperial Citadel of Thang Long (Hoàng Thành Thăng Long) is one of Vietnam’s most important historical relics.

Located in the centre of Hanoi, Imperial Citadel of Thang Long was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010.

Over centuries, the Imperial Citadel fought through many wars and natural disasters, but still retains its ancient Vietnamese architectural features.

Hanoi has lived through more than 1.000 years, with many ups and downs in its history. It’s hard to get a glimpse of all the architectural features that existed in these centuries.

But whatever’s left of the ancient city can be considered as a symbol of Hanoi’s thousand-year-old architectural legacy./.
