New Delhi (VNA) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished Vietnamese people a Lunar New Year full of happiness, peace and good heath.

The PM extended his greetings to people of Vietnam, China, Korea, and Mongolia on February 8 in their native languages, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency.

In a message to Vietnamese people, the PM tweeted that “Tết greetings to the people of Vietnam. May this year be full of joy & prosperity”.

Amid the spring atmosphere, the France-Vietnam Friendship Association’s chapter in Choisy Le Roy city hosted a gathering to welcome the Year of the Monkey.

The meeting, the fifth of its kind, aims to introduce Vietnam’s traditional culture to French friends as well as strengthen the bilateral solidarity and friendship.

Mayor Didier Guillaume said the celebration held regularly since 2012 has become a venue for French people to show their affection and solidarity with the Southeast Asian country.

He also hailed significant achievements that Vietnam has gained over the past three decades thanks to its open-door and integration policy.

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Ngoc Son described Choisy Le Roi as a city of friendship and solidarity.

He thanks French friends for supporting Vietnam during the cause of national construction and development.

At the gathering, participants were treated to special lion dances, art performances, and Vietnamese handicrafts and fine art products.-VNA
