Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia is hosting the 8th International Shipbuilding, Offshore, Marine Equipment, Machinery and Services Exhibition (Inmarine) from July 25-27.
The expo aims to boost the development of the maritime industry in Indonesia that wants to become a global marine axis as stated by President Joko Widodo.
An event entitled "Port and Terminal 2018" is held within the framework of the expo to support the country’s sea toll programme.
Indonesia is planning to build 100 seaports in the long term. By the end of 2019, the country expects to build and expand 24 seaports nationwide with a total investment of 5-6 billion USD.
Indonesia has the largest number of islands in the world, at more than 17,500, of which around 8,000 islands are inhabited.-VNA
