Indonesia: Incumbent President Widodo temporarily leads in election

Incumbent Indonesian President Joko Widodo temporarily takes the lead in the presidential election held on April 17 as he has got more than 50 percent of vote cast, according to pollsters.

Jakarta (VNA) - Incumbent Indonesian President Joko Widodo temporarily take the lead in the presidential election held on April 17 as he has got more than50 percent of vote cast, according to pollsters.

According to results of research centres, Widodo holds a roughly 10 percentlead over his rival Prabowo Subianto.

The official results will be released in May.

Indonesia opened the polls to more than 190 million eligible voters on April 17in one of the world's biggest single-day elections.

In the elections, voters selected their president, vice president and more than20,000 legislators.  For the first time,Indonesia is holding its presidential and legislative elections on the sameday, with more than 245,000 candidates running for more than 20,000 seats. -VNA
