Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian anti-terror police shot dead two alleged militants in an exchange of fire on May 15 in North Sumatra province, local media reported.
The shootings took place when the police squad attempted to arrest the two persons in Tengku Mansyur General Hospital in Tanjung Balai town.
The event followed a series of terrorist attacks in Surabaya city, the provincial capital of East Java on May 13 and 14, that killed 28 people and injured dozens others.
These attacks occurred amid tightened security in the country ahead of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.-VNA
