Indonesia plans to build three airports in West Java

Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo has revealed a near futureplan to build three new airports in West Java.

Accordingto Indonesia’s Antara News Agency, the airports are planned to be built in thedistricts of Majalengka, Tasikmalaya, and Sukabumi. Of those, the KertajatiInternational Airport in Majalengka is expected to be completed and becomeoperational by mid-2018.

TheKertajati airport is the largest in West Java and is very useful to boost thetransport of goods and people and to drive the provincial economy, theIndonesian President noted.

Apartfrom the Kertajati airport, the one in Tasikmalaya will be utilized moreeffectively, he explained.

Thethird airport will be developed in Sukabumi, but the Indonesian President haschosen to keep its location a secret to avoid negative impacts on landacquiring and site clearance.-VNA
