Jakarta (VNA) - More than 4 million foreign tourists came to Indonesia in the first four months of this year, up 24.85% compared to the same period last year, statistics show.

This marks the highest foreign tourist arrivals Indonesia has recorded for the January - April period since 2020, according to Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, acting head of Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

In April alone, nearly 1.1 million foreigners visited Indonesia. Most of them, 170,600, were from Malaysia, which was followed by Australia (127,970), China (85,600) and Singapore (81,230). On average, a foreign traveller stayed in the country for almost 7.92 nights.

According to Amalia, an increase in the number of flights at some tourist destinations is one of the main factors leading to a surge in foreign arrivals in the archipelago nation./.
