Indonesia vows to ensure safety for Vietnamese football fans

The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) on October 9 pledged to spare no efforts to ensure safety for Vietnam’s football fans during the Indonesia-Vietnam match in the World Cup 2022 qualifying round.

Jakarta (VNA) – The FootballAssociation of Indonesia (PSSI) on October 9 pledged to spare no efforts toensure safety for Vietnam’s football fans during the Indonesia-Vietnam match inthe World Cup 2022 qualifying round.

At a working sessionwith the Embassy of Vietnam in Indonesia, PSSI Secretary General Ratu Tisha Destria said that the association has devised securityplans for the match, which is slated for October 15 at the Kapten I Wayan Diptastadium on Indonesia’s Bali island.

She voiced her hope that with closecollaboration of the PSSI, the Vietnam Football Federation and the VietnameseEmbassy, the match will be a success.

An exclusive entrance way and seats will bezoned off for Vietnamese fans, she added.

For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador toIndonesia Pham Vinh Quang asked the PSSI to ensure safety for Vietnameseplayers and spectators, by enhancing security measures and preparing scenariosin case of incidents, especially after a recent violence during theIndonesia-Malaysia match.

Vietnamese fans are also asked not to bringinflammables and flares to the stadium.

The match will be Vietnam’s third game inGroup G. It is scheduled be aired live from 6.30 pm on VTV6./.

Remains of Vietnamese fallen soldiers, experts repatriated from Laos

The remains of 12 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, who laid down their lives in different periods in Laos’ Savannakhet province, were repatriated following a handover ceremony on May 21. They will be re-buried at the Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery in Vietnam's central province of Quang Tri on May 22.

Nghe An reburies martyrs' remains repatriated from Laos

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phung Thanh Vinh said that carrying a noble international duty, many Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts heroically joined Lao people in their struggle for national liberation and independence. Many of them sacrificed their lives in the country, including more than 12,000 soldiers laying down in the three provinces of Xaysomboun, Vientiane, and Xiangkhouang.
