Hanoi (VNA) - A man using a knife attacked Indonesian Chief Security Minister Wiranto on October 10 when he was visiting Pandeglang city in Banten province on the island of Java.

Images from police and television showed the minister was getting out of a car before he was attacked by the man allegedly "exposed to IS radicalism".

National police spokesman Dedi Prasetyo confirmed the incident and told media that a man and a woman had been arrested and an officer had been hurt.

Berkah Hospital spokesman Firmansyah said the minister, who is a former military general, suffered "two deep wounds", but was conscious and in stable condition, adding that he would be rushed to the capital Jakarta and may need surgery, AFP reported./.
