Those who have passion for Indonesian contemporary art have a chance to contemplate 26 works by 21 Indonesian artists at an exhibition which opened at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum on June 18.

Themed “Picturing Pictures – from symbols to works”, the exhibition - the first of its kind held in Ho Chi Minh City - displays a majority of oil paintings featuring the most typical traits of Indonesia. They also highlight the interference of the past and the present.

The exhibited paintings allow Vietnamese people to get a better understanding of Indonesia and its people, said the museum’s Director Ma Thanh Cao, adding that the event is a chance for the two sides’ artists to swap experience.

The 12-day event is co-organised by Indonesian Art Xchange Gallery in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum.-VNA
