Hanoi (VNA) – The Standard Chartered Hanoi Heritage Marathon Race 2025 is set to take place on November 9, expecting to attract thousands of domestic and international runners.
The race will feature unique heritage routes at the city's most scenic time of year. The event offers five race distances - 42.19 km, 21.09 km, 10km, 5km, and a special category for children aged 6-10, all starting and finishing at Quan Ngua Sports Palace.
CEO Nguyen Tri of DHA Vietnam, the race organiser, said at the race announcing event on April 2 that the marathon aims to grow into a major event comparable to Standard Chartered races in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Hong Kong, which attract tens of thousands of participants. In 2024, over 1,300 runners from more than 50 countries took part, highlighting Hanoi’s appeal as a global running destination.
The event also promotes social initiatives, including the “Swap old shoes for new” campaign. In 2024, over 300 cleaned and reconditioned pairs were donated to students in remote areas.
For the 2025 race, the organiser will start to collect earlier, encouraging runners to donate old shoes during the race from November 6-9./.
