Hanoi (VNA) – Breakthroughs in science-technology or innovation andcreativity should be added to the initial draft on socio-economic developmentstrategies to be summited to the13th National Party Congress, laying the foundation for the economic restructuringand renovation of growth model, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.

Chairing the third meeting of the socio-economic subcommittee in preparationfor the 13th National Party Congress in Hanoi on March 4, PM Phuc,who is also chairman of the sub-committee, stressed that relevant documentsmust highlight key missions like stablising macro-economy, controlling inflation,mobilizing resources for development and improving growth quality.

Participants at the event said that despite unpredictable global economicdevelopment, the Vietnamese economy has experienced robust growth in recentyears, and the focus should be given to the promotion of innovation and creativityto maintain the momentum.

Specific targets should be outlined for socio-economic development in the nextten years, they said, relishing positive prospects for Vietnam’s economy basedon the country’s increasing prestige in the international arena.

In this period, all of the plans must show off Vietnam’s desire for prosperityto waken potential of each citizen, they said.

The socio-economic subcommittee, founded to help prepare for the congress slated forearly 2021, has been tasked with building a document on the socio-economicdevelopment strategy for 2021-2030 and another on the socio-economicdevelopment plan for 2021-2025. The documents will set up strategicorientations for national development in the next decade.-VNA
