Hanoi (VNA) – Integration has brought about practical benefits for businesses and people while promoting the adaptation of domestic regulations to international standards, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has said.
He made the remark at a plenary session of the National Steering Committee on International Integration in Hanoi on March 9.
Participants at the event shared the view that in 2016, the committee actively steered ministries, sectors and localities’ actions to step up integration.
The Party and the State issued many important relevant documents, including the Politburo’s Resolution 22 and the 12th Party Central Committee’s Resolution 06-NQ/TW on effectively implementing international economic integration and maintaining political and social stability amidst Vietnam’s participation in new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs).
Minh said the Government will launch an action programme involving more than 50 tasks to realise Resolution 06-NQ/TW. Relevant agencies need to work closely together to align domestic regulations with the signed FTAs.
Regarding APEC activities, he said this is the second time Vietnam has hosted the forum, which is an opportunity for the country to contribute more to APEC’s development and to strengthen economic partnerships with other APEC members.
He asked for better measures to facilitate the public’s access to integration information. Meanwhile, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry also needs to be more active to help enterprises make use of FTAs.-VNA
