Geneva (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s attendance of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, will highlight Vietnam’s determination to promote comprehensive reform and international integration in 2016-2020, a Vietnamese official has said.
In an interview granted to Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Geneva on the threshold of the event, Ambassador and Head of Vietnam's permanent delegation to the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation and other organizations in Geneva Duong Chi Dung detailed the relations between Vietnam and the WEF and events that the PM will attend.
Through the summit, PM Phuc will affirm Vietnam’s committment to building a constructive and action-minded government and will highlight the efforts made by the Vietnamese Government to improve the confidence of the international business community, thus attracting more foreign investments to Vietnam, Dung said.
The Prime Minister will also promote the position and role of Vietnam, as the host of APEC 2017, to call for support of the international community for this event.
PM Phuc will also deliver a speech at the Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders themed “Responsive and Responsible Leadership in a multi-polar world”, which will emphasise the Vietnamese Government’s commitment to the country’s comprehensive reform process, the diplomat said.
The Prime Minister will participate in activities to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN during the meeting and give speeches to highlight Vietnam’s contributions to the bloc, he added.
The government leader will also meet with state and government leaders of a number of countries, representatives of multinational groups and leading enterprises worldwide, and those from international organisations, the ambassador revealed.
The PM is attending the meeting at the invitation of the WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab from January 18-21.
