Hanoi (VNA) - Advanced technologies applied in energy and water supply and sewage will be introduced during the 7th Vietnam Water Expo and Forum, taking place at the Vietnam Exhibition Fair Centre, Hanoi from November 25-27.

Vietwater 2015, held along with the Renewable Energy Programme and Energy Efficiency Event, draws the participation of over 380 enterprises from 35 countries and territories worldwide, including Australia, Belgium, China, Finland, France, Hungary, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Singapore.

It is a valuable opportunity for both domestic and foreign businesses to foster cooperation, which helps further the water and energy sectors’ development.

Deputy Minister of Construction Phan Thi My Linh said that water and energy are the two urgent issues in Vietnam as well as in other countries amid rapid urbanisation.

Global demand for energy is forecasted to surge 50 percent and water used for energy production will hike up 20 percent by 2035, posing challenges to urban areas and regions during development process, Linh said.

Besides a line-up of mechanisms and policies to attract investment in the water supply and energy sectors, Vietnam also launches research on renewable resources as part of the efforts to promote green production, green technology and energy efficiency.-VNA
