Nguyen Thi Mai Hung has become the fifth woman from Vietnam to be awarded the International Women's Grandmaster (IWGM) title.
The Bac Giang province-born master has completed the third standard to reach the title after her outstanding performance in recent official tournaments during her training in Hungary.
It is expected that Hung, 20, will receive her title later this month, after the International Chess Federation competes its procedures.
The four other Vietnamese IWGM are Nguyen Thi Thanh An, Le Thanh Tu, Hoang Thi Bao Tram and Pham Le Thao Nguyen.-VNA
