Int’l forum spotlights Vietnam-Venezuela cooperation potential

Vietnam and Venezuela hold huge potential to expand their trade and investment collaboration, experts said at an international forum held by the Vietnam Institute of Americas Studies (VIAS) under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences in Hanoi on August 29.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and Venezuela hold huge potential to expand their trade and investment collaboration, experts said at an international forum held by the Vietnam Institute of Americas Studies (VIAS) under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences in Hanoi on August 29.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Nguyen Cao Duc, Deputy Director in charge of the VIAS, stressed that although various achievements have been recorded in the bilateral cooperation, the economic and trade ties between the two countries still lag behind their potential and strengths.

Duc expressed his hope that the two sides will continue efforts to bolster collaboration in various areas so as to strengthen the bilateral relations, highlighting on the basis of the current cooperation, Vietnam and Venezuela will reap further achievements in the coming time.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Nang Khieu, Deputy Director General of the Americas Department under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Associations, underscored that the bilateral ties boast great potential to further develop, particularly in the domains of agriculture, oil and gas, and telecommunications.

He said joint efforts and close cooperation between the two sides could create new opportunities to bolster investment and two-way trade, adding Vietnam stands ready to support and accompany Venezuelan partners.

Participants at the event also put forth several measures and policies to enhance cooperation between the two countries./.
