-The 10th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee began in Hanoi on September 18.

In the morning, the committee held a plenary session. Participants observed a minute of silence in memory of residents and soldiers killed during the recent Typhoon Yagi and its aftermath, and raised fund in support of the victims.Read full story

-Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son talked on the phone with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty on September 17.

Abdelatty extended deep condolences to the Government and people of Vietnam over severe consequences left by Typhoon Yagi, affirming that Egypt always stands by, unites with and supports Vietnam as repeatedly affirmed by leaders of the two sides.Read full story

-The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) held an event in Hanoi on September 18 to receive emergency aid from other countries for victims of super Typhoon Yagi.

Briefing participants on the serious impacts of the storm and its accompanying downpour and flooding, MARD Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep thanked disaster risk reduction partners, international organisations, and foreign embassies for their assistance, both in cash and in kind, to the seriously affected localities.Read full story

-The Engineering Unit Rotation 3 and the Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 6 paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi, and to fallen soldiers at the Heroic Martyrs' Monument in the capital city on September 18 before they head for UN peacekeeping missions.

-Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme, who is also Climate Envoy, and some officials of the Netherlands have agreed to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in climate change response while receiving Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang.

-Tens of thousands of visitors and local residents joined Cao Dai followers at the “Hoi Yen Dieu Tri Cung”, the biggest festival of the Cao Dai sect, in the southern province of Tay Ninh on September 17 night.

The festival is a major great religious banquet for the Great Mother and nine female immortals of the Dieu Tri (Jasper Pond) Palace held annually on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.Read full story

-The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of the southern city of Can Tho, on September 18 launched a campaign to collect waste and clean the environment in Cai Rang floating market on the Can Tho River, one of the popular tourist destinations in Ninh Kieu district which is facing a risk of pollution.

The event aims to raise public awareness and change people's behaviour in waste disposal and recycling while strengthening cooperation between stakeholders to improve the efficiency of solid waste management in Can Tho.Read full story

-The Meeting of Governors and Mayors of ASEAN Capitals (MGMAC) and the ASEAN Mayors Forum (AMF) officially opened in Vientiane, Laos, on September 18.

The event gathered representatives from ASEAN capitals and cities, including ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.Read full story

Photo exhibition highlights Vietnam–DPRK relations

Visitors at the exhibition were moved by historical photographs dating back nearly 70 years, including images of the founding leader of the DPRK Kim Il Sung personally welcoming President Ho Chi Minh and a CPV delegation at Pyongyang’s Sunan International Airport during their visit to the DPRK from July 8–12, 1957. In return, the DPRK leader paid an official visit to Vietnam from November 27 to December 3, 1958.

Cao Bang, China’s Baise city eye to boost all-around cooperation

Cao Bang province of Vietnam and Baise city in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China are exploring a “red tourism” route linking Pac Bo and Meng Mo (China) to promote revolutionary tradition education and strengthen bilateral friendship. They are also stepping up cooperation in human resource development through training exchanges and efforts to improve workforce quality.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vientiane strengthen cooperation for 2026–2030

Under the MoU, the two sides will strengthen cooperation in politics – diplomacy, security – defence, legal and judicial affairs, economic affairs, education, culture and society, cooperation among mass organisations and socio-political organisations, and development support.

Vietnam warns citizens against suspicious online job offers abroad

Job offers that do not require qualifications or skills, lack formal contracts, or are not arranged through licensed labour export enterprises or organisations may conceal risks of exploitation, forced labour or human trafficking, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.

Hanoi to host ASEAN Future Forum 2026 in mid-June

Vietnam’s proposals placed the highest priority on ensuring a peaceful and stable environment conducive for continued sustainable development and improving the well-being and happiness of the ASEAN people. They were praised by member states and incorporated into the core contents of the ASEAN Leaders’ Statement on the response to the Middle East crisis.

Vietnam asks parties to respect its sovereignty over Truong Sa

The spokesperson stated that the dispatch of personnel by relevant parties to features belonging to Truong Sa without Vietnam’s permission constitutes a violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty under international law. She stressed that such actions run counter to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) as well as ongoing efforts by countries to negotiate a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
