Addressing the opening ceremony on January 5, Dang ThiBich Lien, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stressed thatVietnam has been investing in studying, preserving and promoting seaand island cultural values in a bid to utilise sea potential.
Thetwo-day event, jointly held by the Vietnam National Institute of Artsand Culture Studies and the provincial People’s Committee, presented a number ofreports featuring the sea and island culture of coastal localities inVietnam.
Meanwhile, foreign participants shared experience onmany issues with a view to applying and promoting cultural values of seaand islands in the country’s socio-economic development, especially intourism.
Scholars from the Republic of Korea and Denmark sharedtheir studies on the culture of Cat Ba island, Ha Long Bay and Ly Sonisland areas.
The workshop assessed that sea and island culturalvalues have contributed to safeguarding Vietnam’s sovereignty andsovereign right as well as to the country’s socio-economicdevelopment.-VNA
