Israeli President Shimon Peres left Hanoi on Nov. 26, concludinghis official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of State PresidentTruong Tan Sang.
During his stay in Vietnam ,President Shimon Peres held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart andmet with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and National AssemblyChairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The two countries’leaders expressed their pleasure at the development of the multi-facetedcooperation over the past time. They affirmed their resolve to boostand further develop their relations in the coming time, especially inscience, technology, agriculture, trade, investment and tourism.
The two sides held that cooperation between Vietnam and Israel is yet to match their potential.
The leaders exchanged their views on regional and international issuesand expressed their wish to enhance the exchange of information,actively contributing to joint efforts for peace, stability, cooperationand development.
Vietnam attaches importanceto developing cooperation and friendship with Western Asian countries,including Israel , the Vietnamese leaders said, affirming Vietnam ’ssupport for the acceleration of dialogues and peaceful settlement ofdisputes, including disputes happening between Israel and Palestine, on the basis of international laws to ensure the legitimate interestsof concerned parties.
On the occasion, the twosides inked a cooperation agreement on sea transport and a document onfinancial cooperation. They agreed to soon establish the jointintergovernmental committee.
President Shimon Peresinvited President Sang to pay a visit to Israel . President Sangaccepted the invitation with pleasure and the visit will be arrangedthrough diplomatic channels.
The Israeli Presidentlaid a wreath at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs and paid tribute toPresident Ho Chi Minh. He also attended the Vietnam-Israel businessforum and visited Ha Long Bay./.
