- State President Luong Cuong received US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper on January 12, congratulating the outgoing diplomat on a successful term marked by many positive outcomes and affirming the importance Vietnam attaches to bilateral relations.
Reviewing major milestones in Vietnam – US relations during Ambassador Knapper’s time in Vietnam, the President highlighted the elevation of their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the highest level of cooperation in Vietnam’s foreign policy. He highly valued the ambassador’s active contributions to promoting effective, sustainable and deeper cooperation on the basis of respect for each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political systems, as well as mutual benefit. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called for five strategic breakthroughs in digital data, guided by the motto of drastic action with results as the key yardstick, coordinated implementation, data as an asset, data infrastructure as the foundation, data economy as the spearhead, data security as critical importance, and people and businesses placed at the centre.
Addressing the first meeting of the National Steering Committee on Data linked virtually with all 34 cities and provinces nationwide, PM Chinh, who is also head of the committee, stressed that the Party’s policies and guidelines and the State’s laws have long articulated a strategic vision for data development. He cited Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and the recently enacted Law on Data, both of which designate data as a “new means of production” and a strategic resource that must be transformed into high-value assets. Talking with the Vietnam News Agency's reporter in Germany ahead of the 14th National Congress of the CPV, Gallert described the upcoming gathering as a political event of special significance. - The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) plans to steer credit growth across the banking system to around 15% in 2026, with room for adjustment in line with macroeconomic conditions, inflationary pressures and banking system safety, aiming to balance growth support with financial stability.
