Berlin (VNA) – Vietnam has emerged as a major economic player in Southeast Asia, with remarkable gains serving as a testament to the Communist Party of Vietnam’s (CPV) sound leadership, according to Wulf Gallert, Co-chair of the International Commission of Germany’s Left Party (Die Linke).

Talking with the Vietnam News Agency's reporter in Germany ahead of the 14th National Congress of the CPV, Gallert described the upcoming gathering as a political event of special significance. At a time of heightened global uncertainty, he said the congress is expected to adopt new policy decisions to further accelerate economic development and refine organisational capacity.

Looking ahead, he said sustaining broad-based consultations and listening to views from all walks of life, particularly those directly creating value, will be key to Vietnam’s even greater success.

On behalf of the Left Party, Gallert extended his best wishes to the congress.

Commenting on the current global situation, he voiced concern that the world is facing dangerous precedents, ranging from armed conflicts to economic wars, which are creating an increasingly unfavourable environment for countries that uphold free trade and shared rules, such as Germany and Vietnam.

In his view, closer bilateral cooperation is essential to finding solutions to today’s challenges and working together for a peaceful, prosperous world that respects international law and the United Nations Charter.

Expressing pride in the two parties’ long-standing friendship built over decades, Gallert noted that relations between the CPV and Germany’s Left Party are now at a particularly positive stage, marked by an unprecedented level of closeness. Despite geographical distance, he said, the two parties have consistently found common ground in addressing shared challenges faced by the contemporary world.

He voiced his hope that the two sides will continue with close exchange mechanisms as a way to nurture their friendship on the basis of the shared interests of their peoples./.
