Italian project helps improve ethnic groups’ life

An Italian-funded project to improve self-reliance in nutrition and healthcare for ethnic minority groups in Vietnam has helped change the life of beneficiaries in Bat Xat district in northern mountainous Lao Cai province.
An Italian-funded project to improve self-reliance in nutrition andhealthcare for ethnic minority groups in Vietnam has helped change thelife of beneficiaries in Bat Xat district in northern mountainous LaoCai province.

The three-year project, implemented by Unity andCooperation for Development of People (UCODEP), started in Muong Vi andDen Thang communes in 2009 at a cost of more than 1.36 million Euros, towhich 683,000 Euros were contributed by the Italian Foreign Ministryand more than 69,000 Euros from Oxfam Italy.

The project focusedon providing safe water, education on women and children healthcare,savings fund and credits. It is designed to improve the livelihood forethnic groups, especially women and children, reduce the fatality ratein common diseases and prevent and control diseases.

Under theproject, a group of medical workers was set up to disseminateinformation on clean water and sanitation works and 145 cattle breedingfacilities and more than 100 sanitation works were built./.

Vietnam to provide tuition support for preschoolers

Ho Chi Minh City addresses manpower shortage for urban railway development

Under the human resources training scheme serving the development of the urban railway network approved by the municipal People’s Committee, the city will need around 70,000 workers by 2030 to support investment in and development of its metro system, including project management personnel, operations and maintenance staff, engineers, technical workers, consultants and designers.
