Jakarta (VNA) –
Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide arrived in Indonesia, the second leg of his first trip abroad as Prime Minister, on October 20.

Suga is scheduled to hold talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on bilateral economic cooperation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to spread.

They may also discuss resuming travel between the two countries and cooperation in developing infrastructure, including seaports and railways.

The same day, Indonesian Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto and Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Ishii Masafumi signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of health care, including in pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, human resources development, medical services, medical IT, elderly care, disease prevention and environmental health.

Before Indonesia, PM Suga had visited Vietnam. His four-day trip to the two Southeast Asian countries takes place as the Japanese PM is working to promote Japan’s Free and Open Indo-Pacific vision./.
