Hanoi (VNA) – A conference took place in Hanoi on June 7 to review the cooperation inthe fight against corruption between the Party Central Committee’s InternalAffairs Commission, the Central Public Security Commission, Party Civil AffairsCommittees of the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy.

Speaking at theevent, Minister of Public Security and Deputy Head of the Central SteeringCommittee for Anti-Corruption Sen. Lieut. Gen. To Lam hailed the concertedefforts among the agencies last year, which he said, contributed to speeding upthe investigation and trial of major economic and corruption cases.

He stressed theneed to strictly implement the directions of Party General Secretary and Headof the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption Nguyen Phu Trong at its regular meeting on April 17,ensuring the Party’s leadership and directions of the Party Central Committee,Politburo, Secretariat and the steering committee.

Lam asked the PartyCentral Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission and agencies to review, amendand supplement Party documents and legal regulations regarding investigationand trial of corruption cases, especially in evaluating losses, valuing andrecovering assets.

This year, thecentral steering committee decided to establish eight teams to investigate andprosecute serious economic and corruption cases in 20 provinces, he added.

Agencies concernedwere asked to draw lessons from the past to improve the efficiency of the corruptionfight.

Reviewing the worklast year, reports said a number of proposals involving anti-corruptionmechanisms, policies and laws were raised while shortcomings in Statemanagement in socio-economic affairs were promptly fixed.

Concluding theevent, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission PhanDinh Trac urged for the continued joint work to investigate, prosecute and puton trial serious corruption cases and review tasks assigned by the centralsteering committee.-VNA

Tien Giang steps up efforts to eliminate substandard houses

According to the Tien Giang People’s Committee, 485 homes for policy beneficiaries, families of war martyrs, and low-income households will be supported. Of these, 284 new homes will be built, and 201 existing ones repaired, with a total budget of 24.1 billion VND (about 984,000 USD). As of March 6, construction had started on 166 houses, with 32 already completed.

Bac Giang to eliminate substandard houses by November

Local authorities have identified 795 homes of poor and near-poor households and individuals with recognised service to the nation that qualify for support. Of these, 475 require complete reconstruction and 320 need significant repairs, with estimated costs totaling 39 billion VND (1.53 million USD).

Vietnamese, Chinese cities to build smart border gate pair

They also consented to promote the development of a cross-border economic cooperation zone through sectoral cooperation at Hai Yen industrial park, Van Ninh international port in Mong Cai; a cross-border e-commerce industrial park; and transport connectivity projects between the two cities including the international railway line from Mong Cai to Dongxing, Bac Luan III bridge, and an auxiliary rough steel bridge.
