The southern province of Kien Giang is working on apre-feasibility report on a water supply project in the island districtof Phu Quoc, according to Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’sCommittee Le Khac Ghi.
The report will be conducted withsupport from the the Japanese city of Kobe and the JapanInternational Cooperation Association (JICA).
The project,developed under the public-private partnership, has a total investmentcapital of 1.85 trillion VND (861 million USD).
It will includewater reservoirs and pipe systems with an investment capital of 1.653trillion VND (767 million USD) from the provincial budget.
A water treatment factory worth 200 billion VND (94 million USD) will be invested by Japanese businesses.
So far, Kien Giang has attracted 35 official development assistanceand foreign direct investment projects with a total investment capitalof 1.3 billion USD.
The province has also signed 8 cooperationagreements with international partners in environmental protection,information technology and human resources management.-VNA
