Sydney (VNA) – The Vietnamese Consulate General in Perth on December 14 presented Certificates of Commendation from the Consul General to students and volunteers in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the organisation of Xuan Que Huong (Homeland Spring) 2025, a cultural, trade and community exchange festival that drew thousands of visitors to central Perth on November 23.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Ha, Consul General of Vietnam in Western Australia and the Northern Territory, praised the dedication of young Vietnamese living in the region. She emphasised that the success of Xuan Que Huong was built not only on its colourful performances, but also on the strong sense of responsibility and tireless behind-the-scenes efforts of students and volunteers. They embody, she said, a confident, dynamic and well-integrated young generation that remains closely connected to its roots. The Certificates of Commendation, she added, were a fitting acknowledgement and a gesture of appreciation from the representative mission.
Nguyen Thanh Trung and Tran Bao Thi (Celine), representatives of the Vietnamese Students’ Association in Western Australia, noted that the initial aim was simply to create a meaningful activity ahead of the 2026 New Year. Through the organisation process, however, students gained much more, including stronger friendships, closer ties within the community, a deeper understanding of traditional culture, and a sense of pride in promoting the image of Vietnam in the heart of Perth.
Many students described their involvement in an event of such scale as an “unforgettable experience”, and voiced their wish to take part in more meaningful initiatives in the future./.
