The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is assisting Vietnam in building a long-term development agenda for the establishment of a multi-purpose land information system through a non-refundable aid package from the Government of the Republic of Korea .
Running from December 2013 to February 2015, the 4.2 million USD project has thus far designed the land information model in Vietnam , proposed initiatives to improve land management, and conducted VietLIS software trials in the field.
The project is expected to provide background information and lessons learned in developing a Vietnamese-relevant model. The VietLIS software in particular will actively support State-run agencies in land management and usage, offering public services and land information for businesses and residents.
Speaking at a review conference in Hanoi on February 5, KOICA representative Chang Jae Yun said the project—the first of its kind aided by the RoK in Vietnam —and its outcomes will help the Southeast Asian country take an important step in national-scale land management.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha said the ministry has worked with relevant sectors and Korean experts to accelerate project implementation, which is being piloted in Hanoi, Tu Son district in northern Bac Ninh province, and Hai Chau district in central Da Nang city.-VNA
