A requiem was held in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on March 15 to pray for the souls of combatants and residents who laid down their lives in the region during the war.
The requiem was jointly organised by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee and the Executive Committees of the Buddhist Sangha Chapters in the provinces of Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Dak Nong and Lam Dong.
Representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees in Kon Tum province and Dak Ha district joined thousands of Buddhist monks and nuns and local people at the event.
A day earlier, the Executive Committees of the Buddhist Sangha Chapters in the five Central Highlands provinces and the five central provinces of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai and Quang Nam , held a ceremony to honour the souls of fallen soldiers at the martyrs’ cemeteries and proceeded to Thap Ky Quan pagoda for the requiem.
On this occasion, the organisers presented gifts to almost 5,000 local ethnic residents and relatives of fallen combatants.
This was the second time Kon Tum province has hosted a requiem praying for fallen soldiers and others killed during the war./.
