HCM City (VNA) – The Lao province of Attapeu has presented 100 million LAK (8,200 USD) to aid Ho Chi Minh City in the COVID-19 combat.
Lao Consul General in HCM City Phimpha Keomixay on October 28 handed over the donation to Chairwoman of the city's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee To Thi Bich Chau.
At the hand-over ceremony, Chau thanked the wholehearted support of the Lao province, saying it demonstrates the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
She said over the past time, Vietnamese and Lao leaders have exchanged regards and supported each other in pandemic prevention and control.
HCM City is working together with Lao localities to implement cooperation activities, thus bringing practical benefits to people of both nations, and helping to consolidate and enhance the bilateral relations.
For her part, Phimpha thanked HCM City for its assistance to Lao localities in the cause of national construction and development, as well as in the pandemic fight. The city has also supported Lao citizens living, studying and working there.
The diplomat expressed her hope that Vietnam and HCM City in particular will soon control the pandemic, and continue socio-economic development activities in the new normal.
She also suggested further implementing cooperation programmes within the framework of signed agreements, including the pact on collaboration between HCM City and the Lao capital city of Vientiane for 2021-2025./.
